We enjoyed everything about the hotel, including good staff and food. The beds were comfy and met needs. Merchiston district deserves your attention.
we only slept at the suite, but we enjoyed it. the staff were accommodating and created a friendly vibe.
The room was clean and tidy. Good welcome, everything was ready on arrival a hearty breakfast. The feel of the hotel was just wright and at a great price
The breakfast took a long sometime to come out. This could impact people in a hurry. This was only a small dislike
As I had a recent back operation (did not state on booking)i requested a ground floor room.my wife and I both in our 65 yr.were put in the attic with barley enough room to move around and no window in,just a skylight.Room no.11 The bathroom was so small we had to go in backwards.
We found the location ideal. It was in a quiet residential area yet was easy walking distance [approx 1.5 mile] into Edinburgh city centre but a good frequent bus service was also close by. We liked the convenience for parking the car. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Evening restaurant facilities were available but we chose to eat out in Edinburgh on this visit. The breakfasts were very good with the choice of fruit juices, cereal, yoghurt, full cooked breakfast and toast.
The walls were thin and we could hear the occupants in the neighbouring room, talking, tv etc - including snoring in the early hours of the morning but overall it didn't spoil our visit
Very friendly staff, very good food, cleanliness, car parking, nice old building.
Strange smell on entry to room, too many narrow/ tight stairs making it difficult to move luggage up to room. Price for weekends increased dramatically?
Everything of decent quality relative to the price and not too far from city centre
Some decor a little dated - several bulbs missing
The staff could do with a more friendly attitude, hotel very smart with scottish overtones well stocked bar and comfortable lounge and dining area breakfast was very good something for everyone. We eat out so can not comment on the food menu.. Our room was like a suite with super king size bed,2 sofas large wardrobe and dressing table big screen t/v sliding doors going out to a patio, this was a 5 star room for a 2 star price we where most impressed with our overall stay.
The staff seemed to lack friendly approach with no customer relations which made me think that is why the bar was so quite during our stay.
room extremely cold, dark & shower was dirty. breakfast dry, not worth the money paid
location easy to get around Edinburgh from hotel either on public transport or by car.staff could not be more helpful, breakfast top notch.will be back and would recommend hotel too family and friends.
Very friendly and homely whilsy efficient
I liked the location being on the bus route to the city. It was very spacious, warm and welcoming.
Excellent location and comfortable room. Good breakfast. Good car parking which is a serious bonus in Edinburgh and only 100 yards from an excellent 10 minute bus service in to the city centre or university. Would be first choice for short-breaks in Edinburgh.
Quiet location, easy free parking on site, excellent facilities and comfort, very competent food both evening and breakfast.
The hotel was beautiful all staff very friendly fantastic bar very clean
